En el foro de depeche que frecuento han abierto un hilo que se llama... "Am I the only one here who hates Muse?"

os pongo algunos mensajes... (es un hilo interesante pero es un foro privado)

Hate might be too strong of word, but ……

I know a lot of people here love Muse and I’m not being the guy who hates them because they are so popular. One, I try not to be that guy and two, that is a type of slam I would post in a Muse thread if I wanted to be that asshole. People on here talk about them and about how amazing they are and I listen to them and get absolutely nothing from their music. I have given all their records a listen or two and there is not one song I like. A remix here or there, but that is about it.

I’m not trying to be negative… I just can’t get into them on any level. I want to say they are too “rockin’” for my tastes, but I like a lot of similar bands so that can’t be it. I just don’t get them. More then anything, I don’t get why they have gone so massive as I don’t see anything special about their music. Kind of generic if you ask me, but the same could be said about a lot of music I like and I realize that.

I know a thread like this will make the Muse fans defensive, but don’t be. I’m not saying people are lame for liking them, just my feelings on the band.

Am I the only one on here that doesn’t like Muse? LOL

Well... I wouldn't say that you're not crazy, but it's definitely not your dislike of Muse that qualifies you as crazy...  Cool I have the same "problem", I am just unable to find anything I like about Muse.

Well, I'm with you... I can't really see how they have got so big. I just can't get it.

They were opening for DM last summer, and that concert was a huge disappointment even for the Muse fans.

The vocals is one thing that I never liked with Muse. It sounds so whiny.

So far Muse have been a brilliant singles band, but on the scale of a whole album that operatic approach starts to irritate me. Starlight, Supermassive Black Hole, Map Of The Problematique are all brilliant, but I always lose interest in Black Holes around track 7 or so. Similarly, Plug-In Baby, Stockholm Syndicate, Sing For Absolution and Time Is Running Out are excellent, but the parent albums leave me cold.

I'm also missing some heart and human warmth in their music. The nonsensical lyrics and everything-and-the-kitchen-sink production leave me longing for something tangible and human.

I find them irritating & their music does nothing for me.

For me, it's definitely the vocals. I just can't get past that voice, I find it really unpleasant. And you should know that I'm a HUGE Bob Dylan fan, which for most people means that I'm automatically disqualified from passing any judgement whatsoever on vocal performances. The vocals are really important to me. They don't necessarily have to be pleasant or traditionally beautiful (se above  Very Happy ) but they have to have something that I like.

I look at Muse as a band who came as a latter day sound to that 90's brit sound that Travis and Coldplay come from. Their roots I mean, but I get why Coldplay got massive, but not Muse... that is odd to me.

Yo no entiendo eso de odiar a otros grupos. Cada uno hace lo que quiere, y ya está.
A mi no me gusta Coldplay, pero tampoco es para odiarles. No me gustan, y nada más, no me voy a pasar la vida diciendo que son unos no se qué...

Otra cosa que les caracteriza y que les hace únicos, la voz. Matt me parece un intérprete fantástico precisamente porque se atreve a cantar en plan llorica, y si canta así será porque entiende o siente que transmite mejor así. Es una voz tan particular que no deja indiferente a nadie.

Muse son la polla, pero no son perfectos, si te molestan los defectos tanto como para joderte una sensación de música única, tú mismo.

Odiar es una palabra muy fuerte, pero se entiende...

Vease Avril lavigne, Mrs. Spears, ese grupo de tres "rockeros" que se separaron (busted)... xq son lo más horteras y lo más falso que se ha visto en mucho tiempo (y si os acabais de ofender os aguantais).

A mi si hay "artistas" que me suben los nervios, y puedo entender que haya gente que tenga esa sensación con Muse, ahora que yo no entiendo la necesidad de gritar eso a los cuatro vientos, yo no creo un hilo o me voy a la página de X a ponerles pingando, si no me gustan no pierdo el tiempo en pensar en ello y si pierdo el tiempo, por algo será...

Odio ese ruido de obra que llaman harcore, pero a otros muchos les gusta..que se le va a hacer.

jaja, ni mucho menos; en el foro oficial de Muse la gente preguntaba "por qué! quienes son esos depeche mode!" y en el de depeche...

Worst part of the night: Muse. My God they stink!!! It is absolutely unlistenable, I nearly got aggressive during their set. What the fuck is up with that singer??!! Musically they sound ok, but as soon as he opens his mouth and starts his goddamn wailing, howling, falsetto screaming everything turns to shit! UUUUUHHH! Still pissed at how bad they are. Thank the maker that Dave, Mart and Fletch were there to save the day.

(muse, however, did not kick ass im(n)ho. i was horrified. i really liked a few muse-songs some years ago but then they fell off my radar. when they appeared on stage, it was like watching this black hole entirely void of actual  life - the singer appeared completely unbearably self-involved and passionless to a point where i had to restrain myself from yelling "wanker!!!" at the stage. i was shocked at my distaste since i am generally very, very receptive to opening acts. that said, i blame it all on the singer - the rest of the band tried really, really hard to make stuff happen and were not at fault. i'd like to clarify that the songs/music was fine. i just couldn't deal with the singer. :/)

...And as far as Muse is concerned, their show was rather very uninspirational. Too much guitar noise by a singer who was more into self-satisfying himself than satisfying audiences. I really loved their debut album and even saw their first concert in Stockholm back in 2001, which was so great. However this time all the sound was turning into one big unbearable noise, their beautiful melodies were totally lost in the wall of noise and distorted guitar. Have I become too old to hear this kind of sound? I really hope not... Maybe Depeche Mode and Muse are like The Cure and Metallica. Two different groups from two different genres. Better off that they don't share the same stage together for the sake of fans and their interest...

les pusieron a caldo (se habló más de ellos que de DM); en el foro de Muse al menos hablaron bien del concierto de DM  pero en fin, no os fustigueis... son gente del norte de Europa, cerrada de mente, anclada en el pasado y a un estilo de música de hace 20 años...

lo del norte de Europa iba porque allí Muse no triunfa (Suecia, Noruega, Dinamarca); el resto iba por la gente de ese foro en concreto que concretamente opina mal de Muse. No me malinterpretéis!
